This rare heritage breed carries a genetic condition called fibromelanosis, which results in an extraordinary black pigmentation throughout the skin, bones and even internal organs. Unlike most chickens that have four toes, Silkies proudly display five on each foot and they often feature striking blue earlobes. Their flesh is a dark grey to bluish colour, making them one of the most unique and visually captivating chicken breeds in the world 🖤
